Timney Triggers AR Competition Trigger
The Timney Triggers AR Competition Trigger is available with different trigger options, pin size and pull weight. The self contained module is ready to install in your AR and delivers an exceptionally smooth, crisp, creep freed single stage trigger pull that feels more like a traditional bolt action than a combat rifle trigger. It is 100% drop in trigger, so no gunsmith is needed. All components are captive in the lightweight, aluminum alloy housing. Its hammer is wire-EDM machined from S7 tool steel that combines hardness to resist wear with superior impact resistance to withstand heavy use without chipping or breaking. Other components are EDM cut from A2 tool steel, then heat treated to Rc 56-60 for long service life. The precision ground engagement surfaces ensure superb reliability and a crisp, clean hammer release. Installs using your rifle’s original hammer/trigger pins; proprietary design eliminates pin walkout.
What Is Trigger Pull Weight?
Pull weight is the amount of force, in ounces or pounds, required to fire the trigger. Or in other words, how hard you have to squeeze the trigger to shoot your rifle. Timney Trigger experts at their Phoenix, Arizona plant hand test every trigger in its intended action and then set the pull weight at the factory standard, 3 lbs.
Below is a guide for pull weight selection:
2-2.5 pounds
Light trigger pull weights are great for people shooting lighter weight rifles as they can help keep you on target during the shot. Also common weights for target shooting from a bench.
3-3.5 pounds
By far the most common trigger pull weights -this is great for virtually all applications including target shooting, hunting and 3-gun competitions.
4.0 pounds+
Heavy trigger pull weights are good for cold weather hunting or applications where you may be shooting with gloves on.
