Kentucky Long series presents high quality glass, a smart FFP reticle, and an adjustable parallax. However, that’s not all. It also features reticle illumination for a variety of situations and locking zero resettable target turrets. It boasts a magnification range six times greater than the starting point. The Kentucky Long steps up when you need it the most.

Illumination

Kentucky Long features eleven brightness settings that illuminate the Sharpshooter reticle in red. With this feature, you can make precision shots at the crack of dawn or in low light environments. The reticle illumination is powered by single CR2032 3v battery that is included in the box.

Kentucky Long’s intelligent Sharpshooter Grid reticle in MIL matches up with 0.1 MIL per click tactical turrets. The Sharpshooter MIL reticles provide ranging confirmation and elevation / windage holdovers, even at extreme target distances.

FINS

With Kentucky Long, Swampfox includes both low and high profile magnification fins so you can choose the fin height that suits you best. You can install the fin anywhere on the magnification ring that’s best for your setup, without the need for aftermarket throw levers. Swampfox has you covered.

Sharpshooter MIL Reticle

Sharpshooter MIL is a ranging and holdover reticle using the Milliradian (MIL) mathematical system. Sharpshooter MIL is available in Kentucky Long 4-24×50 and 5-30×50 models. With the help of a ballistic calculator or a few basic formulas, you can use Sharpshooter MIL to estimate the range to target, then hit it without adjusting your turrets using the holdover aiming cues. Sharpshooter MIL is optimized for precision shooting at 20-30x in dedicated high magnification, long range optics.

Measure it Well

Other reticles give you one or two has mark dimensions to use for range estimation. If the target size doesn’t match up, you must make your best guess based off those listed options. Sharpshooter MIL incorporates sub tensions from 1 MIL all the way down to 0.1 MIL. Less guessing; more confidence.

Hold it Over

With range to target established, you can use Sharpshooter’s holdover grid to shift your point of aim, compensating for both bullet drop and wind conditions without ever having to physically adjust the scope’s 0.1 MIL per click target turrets. The holdover grid extends 10 MIL down with precise wind hold dots extending to a maximum of 6 MIL to each side of center.

Never Wrong

Due to the optic’s First Focal Plane construction, the measurements or sub tensions in Sharpshooter MIL are correct and true at all magnifications. You never have to worry about being at the “wrong” magnification to range estimate or use the holdover grid.

The Bottom Line

Sharpshooter MIL is compatible with any caliber. As just one example, using a 100 meter zero, Sharpshooter MIL will provide holdovers for a standard .308 Winchester rifle to hit accurately past 800 meters in 20 mph winds.

Standard MIL Ranging 

In order to range targets or objects with Sharpshooter MIL, use the MIL ranging formula:

(Target Size (cm) / Image Size in MIL) x10 = Range in Meters In order to obtain an accurate range estimation, you need to know the size of the target in centimeters. Using either vertical or horizontal hash marks, measure the target dimensions in MIL as you view it through the scope. Take the target’s actual size in centimeters, divide it by the observed size in MIL, and multiply that result by 10 to get the range to target in meters.
